Digg, one of the best social bookmarking site, is a topic of discussion lately due to all the bad reasons. Around 9 out of 10 users of digg are not at all happy with the changes which they are making recently. People are complaining about all these but Digg is not at all interested to entertain them.

Digg
Let me first tell you about Digg. Digg is a place (a nice social bookmarking website) where you can discover and share some good content from web. Whether it is articles, pictures (images) or videos, you can easily share the material which you like to the Digg community. A few years back Digg was the most popular social bookmarking site.
Let me now tell you a few changes which they have made recently, firstly they introduced the Diggbar, a concept which ignited the fire among the heart of many people. Then a few days back they removed the shout facility from their website. It is like putting butter on fire.
Diggbar is in fact a nice concept as far as Digg is concerned, cause it directly stopped the user to take the credit for the URL. It is like earlier if you were discovering something on digg then search engines will directly follow the URL, but from the inclusion of the diggbar many people has fear that the search engines will now not crawl the URL from digg. Even the visitor which will go the news will infact not directly reach to the URL of the website, rather they will reach to the Diggbar.
Secondly, they now removed the shout facility from digg, which was a tool through which any user can share a news within seconds to his friends in digg. Now digg has given the facility to share the news with the help of Twitter or Facebook. These two are also a big name in the field of social bookmarking and social networking field. Now the major concern which is coming in the mind of many people is can they be able to gather as many diggs from the help of twit or FB?
I guess sharing the news with the help of twitter is more useful to those guys who have around 500 or more followers but for the guys who has only around 50 followers will never be successful in digg now. Another benefit which will go to Digg only is that Google gives value to tweet so Digg URLs will get the search engine benefits while they have already removed the direct links to the original story so ultimately Digg will become the King not the user will.
So, these are a few changes which will ultimately help to the so called power users only and thus Digg is losing the user base quickly. For your reference a few day’s back their Alexa Rank was 114, but today it is 181, means they are on downward lines now. Be careful digg.
